Favorite things...

I am definitely a girl who appreciates a few pretty things to decorate one's life.  I also fancy the collection of certain items that I fall particularly for,
such as...

the fifty $9 tanks from Target, too many colors to choose between
the 25 latte bowls from Anthro, again with the colors
cardigans. can't have enough

and I love how my Mr. refused to add a new pair of boots to my Christmas list (sent off each year to Mr. and Mrs. Arizona Claus).  He even proceeded to count my collection as we nestled into bed last night.  Eleven, eleven pairs.  I love each one for a different reason and who wouldn't want to add these to their collection...

Love you Steve Madden, you darling man you.

Though these above items of mention may be pretty and also quite useful, they really are not my very favorite things.  In fact, the 'things' in my favorite are of the more intangible kind...

The way my Mr. holds me tight when I am feeling...insecure
The way Noah shows great enthusiasm when the family is together
The way Gabi loves
The love I have for Mr. Witt and its growth over time
and weather, I truly LOVE the weather...

Thank you dear weather for lifting my spirit this morning.  I could barely let go of the hubsband this morning, feeling a little sad and blue... but then you came, just in time, to remind me how very special it is to be in your presence.

Best holiday weekend ever...

I simply love spending time in New York and I am so grateful to have the chance to spend this thankful holiday running amuck through its streets, showing the kids what livin' is all about!

Funny I say that because on Wednesday night the Mister, Grandma Mindy and I decided we would prefer to watch the parade on the tube and sip coffee in our pj's.

say whaaaat?

Well, if you haven't heard, east coast weather has been anything but frightful.  So after a lovely snooze and a leisurely morning we thought we would venture out for a walk... to the parade, with no expectations, to be with the people... in the mix.

We ran into a lady in blue who slipped us thru some barricades onto a side street giving us a wonderful view of the balloons and an earshot of the band...

Can you say awesome?

We did, for the next hour, as snoopy, Kung fu panda, spongebob, and spiderman drifted by!

The kids were so excited that they blacked out in the car...

We spent our Turkey part of the day, not eating Turkey, but enjoying the most delicious dinner prepared by my very talented Aunt Sherry.  Her meals never cease to amaze and she had so many veggies on the table that I managed to stuff myself without stuffing a bird ;-)

My favorite part... sitting at the table for hours after eating, talking and listening.

Thank you Mom, for having us to the City apartment and thank you Marc and Sherry for having us to dinner!!  Already looking forward to next year!

...and this was only the very first day

Fall Foliage...

Look at this perfectly lovely building I pass everyday on my way into work.  I have watched it turn from meadow green to this vibrant red.  You cannot tell in the photo but when the wind blows the leaves on the vines dance on the wall so perfectly.  It is delightful.  It is enough to fill one with joy for an entire day.  Thank you sweet wall, for being there...

Feeling Grateful...

I suddenly feel a wave of gratitude on this Thursday morning.

My children were in high spirits on the phone last night and I went to bed feeling at ease with the distance between us. Look at the smooches I have been getting!

-
My husband has done his absolute best to prepare for a most difficult exam.  He is working so very hard to be the best provider he can be and I love him dearly for it.

and there is so much to look forward to beginning now:

Noah and Gabi will be returning to our cozy loft in 8 short days, giving me the excitement to squeeze the bajeezus out of them... also giving me eight solid days to spend with the Mr. minus all the studying!

School begins shortly and the smell of new paper and clean backpacks makes me giddy.

My 33rd birthday is just around the corner.  A. I love being in the 30's and 33 is a great number even though I usually prefer even numbered birthdays... B. We get to go out to Flatbreads for the best pizza dinner and Church Street Ben and Jerry's after that!  That is all I want and need.

A girls trip is in the forecast, to spend with my mother in my favorite city doing some of my most favorite things...

FALL IS COMING!!!

Then an oh so important date.  11/11/11.  I have been waiting years for this date... and my dad too.  He and Sue are flying all the way from fancy England to spend this day with us... and in posh Montreal of all places!  Crazy lucky!!

Thanksgiving will be spent in nyc this year.  Can you say Macy's Day parade??

Then it is Christmas.

Life is a blessing and I am oh so grateful.

Also... I have re dicovered an old passion.  I resurrected my sewing machines from the
depths of neglect.  I have a lot more to say on this matter but will post a pic of my very first project in close to eight years probably...

The feel of the fabric and the hum of the machines... LOVE.
